Elementary students participated in "Red Ribbon Week". Classes competed against each other by dressing up according to the theme of the day. 1st and 6th Grades won and were treated to ice cream! During counseling time, students conducted three different experiments to see how drugs and alcohol impact our bodies. It was a fun week of learning!

To go with Red Ribbon Week, secondary students watched a one-person play called "Dirt" presented by John Morello. This play was about the impact of drugs on a person's life and relationships with others. The presentation offered an outlet for students to hear and see some of those items from society we are not supposed to say out loud. From family turmoil to drug abuse to mental well-being, the performance touched on many aspects of life. Students were so engaged that they didn't leave when the end of school bell rang!

November Treasure Books saw several readers with keys who earned the chance to choose a new book (or two or three!) to keep. We can't wait for our next Treasure Books to open in December. Keep reading and earning AR points!

Our third "College and Career Monday" took place November 6th with a focus on emergency services. Students visited Missouri Western Law Enforcement Academy, St Joe Fire, Nodaway County Ambulance, and Maryville Army National Guard. It was a fun, interactive day of learning!

West Nodaway High School was selected by Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments as one of the area schools this year to participate in a new program focusing roadway safety. Some content covered will be seatbelt usage, distracted driving, and substance-impairment.
