While we're apart, we thought it might be nice to share a little bit about what we're doing now that we're all at home with our families! Well, when we're not thinking about all of you and doing school from a distance.
Up first... Mrs. Jennifer McGinness!

Fifth grade held a morning meeting on Flip Grid! We hope to see more friends next time! #socialdistancing #checkinonyourfriends

Reading Tip: Read books that are also movies. Students need to be able to compare/contrast. Watch/read, then discuss how the characters and storylines were same/different. Which did you enjoy more and why? Go to: https://imaginationsoup.net/childrens-books-adapted-movies/

Kindergarten had fun catching up with friends on Zoom!!

I love Julia Cook books, and I know many of our elementary students do too. So, I was thrilled to see that she'll be reading a book aloud on Facebook every Monday and Friday at 9 am! They'll stay up for a few days, so you can watch them at a time that works for you. - Mrs. Bell

During this time of social distancing, it seems to me that a kindness journal is just the spark of positivity we could all use! Luckily, there's a free one available at deepkindnessjournal.com. It asks for an email, but that's all. As a sneak preview, here's day one!

Thank you to the Burlington Junction Methodist and Christian churches on serving close to 45 kids lunches the last few days. What great community pride and assistance we have. School looks forward to helping out more next week and the weeks ahead!

There have been some troubles reported using Math Facts in a Flash at home. The problem is the browser is blocking the pop-up for the site. You will need to allow pop-ups for the site, allow pop-ups in general, or try another browser (it appears to be working in Firefox).

In order to ensure there are enough sack breakfast/lunches prepared, please remember to call or text Norma at (816) 390-5241 by the end of the day today if your children are participating in the free meals next week. Thank you!

Backpack Buddies Update: Please pick up your items in the vestibule off of the south circle drive anytime before *2:00 PM* today, or during breakfast and lunch pick-up next week!

Mrs. Grace's Reading Tip: More on DIALOGUE: Have your child practice reading dialogue with the expression of the character. Read the story like a play and take turns reading for certain characters. Practicing this helps build reading fluency, as well. Keep reading!!

Mrs. Grace's Reading Tip: When reading books with your child, discuss DIALOGUE, or what the characters say in the book. Look for the quotation marks that set dialogue apart. Be sure your child knows who is speaking, and discuss whose point of view the story is told from.

Those receiving Backpack Buddies can pick them up at school tomorrow between 8:00-3:00 PM, or next week when picking up lunches. If you plan to pick them up tomorrow, please call Bev at 725-4126. If you cannot pick them up, we may be able to deliver. Call for more information.
