Notice: There will only be two quarters of JV football this evening, along with a full JH game. Go Thunder!

It's almost time for Homecoming! 💚

Good luck to our athletes this evening! 💪🏼

3rd grade worked in groups to come up with 26 nouns and 26 verbs from A-Z. They had some creative answers!

In Social Studies, 5th grade teams brought the Bill of Rights to life by creating skits and scripts to act out what their assigned amendments meant to them. We had some very creative ideas!

4th grade learned about 9/11 today and discussed what makes a hero!

This week our elementary counseling lessons focused on the character word of the month, self-control. PK-2nd grade students did a variety of activities with balloons to see how well we could control our actions, words, and emotions. 3rd-6th grade students discussed a variety of scenarios that might be difficult to maintain self-control and then they worked in teams to sort out phrases we should say and phrases we should just think. We then considered ways to approach our "think" side with kinder words or changing topics.

2nd grade finished up reading The Fishermen and his Wife. We decided to watch a short video to wrap up the lesson.

The West Nodaway BOE will hold its regularly scheduled monthly meeting @ 6:00 p.m. Wednesday Sep 14th. Agenda is posted under menu/docs/BOE on the school website.

Homecoming shirts for sale! Short sleeves, long sleeves, hoodies, crewnecks! Visit studentbodyonline.com to place your order. Order close on Wednesday, September 20th!

Due to lack of players, there will be no JV football game on 9/19 vs. East Atchison. There will still be a JH game, however, beginning at 5:00 PM at West Nodaway.

Go Thunder! 💪🏼

Food Science students in Mrs. Honan's class learn the science behind food nutrients. Student "SCIENTISTS" tested samples for nutrients, such as protein, starch, sugar, fat, and vitamin C, using indicator solutions.

7th Grade Ag students spent the day setting up their first of many labs. Over five days, they will evaluate the variables related to seed germination, such as moisture, oxygen, and temperature.

Congratulations to our September Safety Patrol!

ELA classes are learning about the Cornell note-taking format as well as practicing using the strategy while watching an informative video. We are discussing how taking effective notes in a structured way can improve studying and the retention of information.

Good luck this evening, Thunder! 💪🏼

In ELA, 6th grade has worked to create an artistic representation from one of our poem excerpts, in this weeks unit of poetry and figurative language. I love seeing the imagery that they bring to life!

We had nutrition today and the students tasted different breads after they talked about the grains food group.

Foods Class made a yummy lunch today! Good job everyone!
