Dear Parent or Guardian:
Due to COVID-19, it has definitely changed the way that we have to do many of our end of the year activities. One of those is Kindergarten enrollment. Typically we would have a parent meeting, set-up times to screen students, as well as a day for students to come in and spend time in their classrooms.
Unfortunately due to all the social distancing restrictions, we are not going to have our Spring parent meeting. Instead this date has been set for Thursday, August 13th at 5:30. During this meeting, Mrs. Price (our Kindergarten teacher) will be available to discuss expectations, the class schedule, and other important information. Please be sure to attend and bring your child with you! The children will be doing an activity with Mrs. McGinness during the meeting. Following the meeting, there will be food available in the Commons for all families.
This year we are not going to be offering Dial Screenings as we have done in the past. However, we have several other screenings tools that are utilized at the beginning of the year, when your child enters Kindergarten. Therefore, we will still have solid data to track your child’s progress throughout the year.
Few other reminders:
Students entering Kindergarten this fall must be five before August 1, 2020.
All parents: Please be sure that we have the following items on file: Birth Certificate, Immunization Records, Social Security Card, Proof of Residency. Children attending West Nodaway for the first time will need to complete an enrollment packet if they have not already done so.
Kindergarten immunizations differ from those required for PreK students. Please provide a current immunization record if your child must receive shots before entering Kindergarten.
We have contacted all students identified through our projected enrollment. If you know of someone who has a child who could attend PreK or Kindergarten next year that has not received notification, please advise them to call us at 660-725-4126.
