The West Nodaway Elementary faculty and staff believe in the power of reading, and we encourage our students to read books as often as possible. Motivating some students to pick up a book isn’t always an easy task, but ultimately the goal is that in doing so, students develop the greatest motivator of all, a love of reading!
In order to help our students love reading, we have started a new reading incentive program called TREASURE BOOKS. This program helps reward our students for reading with—what else? Books! As students read more books, they earn “keys” that open our new TREASURE BOOKS store. Students are then able to “shop” for a free book to take home and keep. As students are able to earn this opportunity several times throughout the school year, you can imagine that it will require a good number of books to keep our bookstore stocked! We are thankful to have some resources with which to be able to purchase new books for this venture. However, even those resources are limited, and we are asking for your help! We would like to be able to stock our store with NEW or LIKE NEW books for our elementary students all year long!
If you, your group or organization, or someone you know would be willing to donate to this program, please contact the elementary office for a donation form. This is a venture we would like to continue far into the future, so any help, at any time, will be appreciated! If you have more questions about this program, please feel free to contact our Title I Reading Specialist, Melissa Grace, at 725-4126.
Thank you for supporting reading in our district!
