Changes to Elementary Student Drop-off and Pick-up

  • To aid in distancing, and to limit the number of people entering and exiting the building, we will require that all parents remain in your vehicle during student drop-off and pick-up. If your child will be a car rider at any time, you will need to request a car placard that will hang on your rearview mirror. This placard will have your child's name and grade level listed. To replace the signing out of students at the end of the day, anyone picking up your child will need the palcard in their car window to ensure that the student is going with the correct individual.
  • In an effort to reduce groups of students gathering, we will not allow students to gather at the front entrance inside or outside of the building. During drop-off, for the safety of our students, please drop students off along the sidewalk, not in the parking lot, in an orderly fashion. Please be courteous and remain in the line of cars, rather than pass or skipping the line. This puts our students in danger. Drop students off beside the sidewalk. This would mean that no students will be walking across the parking lot.
  • Cars will line up each afternoon in front of the elementary doors, facing south, and then loop around the outside of the parking lot. All car riders will be dismissed from class by grade level and will wait in the elementary gym until all sibling groups have arrived. All students riding together will come out of the building together to be loaded into the vehicle. If you are picking up multiple grade levels, and one of the students has no made it to the gym yet, then you will be asked to pull forward to wait for them, so the other cars can be loaded and the line can keep moving. I'm sure you have experienced this at McDonald's when your fries aren't quite ready. Pull on up, and we will bring them out to you when they are all ready! Thank you in advance for your patience as we maneuver the new distancing and safety protocols. Our goal is to open school as normally as possible, while also being as safe as possible.
